Alan Cope named as Loughborough MCCU Captain

12 March, 2010

It has been confirmed that Alan Cope will lead Loughborough MCCU this year in all game formats. Alan has come back after a very fustrating  2009  having not played a single game for the MCCU. Alan has not only proved his fitness but has shown great leadership skills throughout the MCCU winter programme.
Head Loughborough MCCU Coach, Graham  Dilley said 'it was an easy decision once I knew Copey was back fit again, he did an exceptional job in his first year, proving that he is a natural leader. I wish him all the best this year'

Alan has already proved himself after having a very successful year in 2008 and is happy to be back leading a team which is solely focused on regaining the MCC University crown. 'I am very happy to be selected as captain of the MCCU' said Cope,' I think it is a role that helps me perform to the best of my ability and I hope that this will continue and I hope that I will have a positive effect on the players around me.'

'I think that training has gone very well over the winter period, there has been a lot of fitness this year so hopefully the boys will be in great physical shape going into the season, fingers crossed that’ll mean less injuries. I feel the boys are starting to come together nicely.'

'I feel that we are pretty much there in preparations for the season, with regard to specific cricket skills as well as being mentally and physically prepared for what should be a demanding season in all respects.'

After asking Alan what games he's looking forward to, he mentioned that,'I'm particularly looking forward to just playing after a long time away from the game with an injury, I think the First Class game against Yorkshire will be particulary special for all involved.'
